Hi there and welcome to our website.   Pictured left is Louise Ninnes, centre, Joe Greenfield and right, Jan Greenfield; the senior management team. The Barn Day Nursery opened it's doors in 2004, moving from Tregenna Castle to our current premises. We have provided childcare services to the local community since 1993!

Between us, we have worked with children for well over 50 years and have a wealth of experience in the child care sector. Louise is highly passionate in giving children the best possible start in life and works very closely with our families to ensure this. Joe reflects this belief & supports Louise in the day-to-day running of the nursery. In 2019, Joe achieved Early Years Teacher Status, a highly regarded accomplishment in the Early Years Sector. Jan has worked in the childcare industry for well over 40 years and firmly believes that the foundations for a successful happy life, lie in the Early Years.

Our passion has always been to enrich the lives of children and ensure they meet their potential in an environment that is both caring and educational.  It is our belief that children learn best when they are confident that the people who are caring for them love and respect them; listen and understand them and are consistent  and patient in their care and guidance.

This love, respect, care and guidance is at the heart of what you will see when coming to our nurseries; we do everything we can to ensure that children in our care get the best possible start in life.

Our Ethos

These values were agreed by all of our team and represent what we believe in and what you will see in our practice and relationships with parents, carers and children.

We consider our most important role is providing a highly nurturing environment where children are loved and feel happy and safe. Here, we firmly believe that children should play and have fun. Children will be given exciting, challenging opportunities that stretch their understanding and knowledge of their local environment.

“We are all unique & special”

We value each and every child as unique individuals. Our pedagogy centres on childrens interests which we use to create exciting opportunities to extend knowledge and understanding in every area of learning

“Everybody is an educator”

We love to engage parents and carers in their children's learning as parents are children's first educators. On a weekly basis, we have specialist teachers come into the nursery to teach children; forest school, beach school, dance lessons and sports!

Teaching children is an accomplishment. Getting children to love learning is an achievement

Through our exciting activities and challenging learning environmeint (accompanied with highly experienced, caring key persons) we promote a love for learning for life! We nurture children's interests and develop their curiosities in order to progress knowledge & understanding.

“Children are the FUTURE”

We aim to prepare all children to become confident individuals, eager for the next stage in their life; getting ready for school life and beyond!

Our teaching pedagogy

Within our nurseries, you will see that our teaching reflects our commitment to fostering children's interests and curiosities. We help develop children's knowledge and understanding through a balance of adult-led and child initiated activities within an open, well resourced environment; this is to ensure that children are given the best opportunity to succeed and are ready for the next stage of learning.

We are very outdoor focussed within our nurseries. We like to work closely in the different communities; taking chilren out of the setting on a weekly basis.
