Home Learning

We recognise that:

"Parents are children's first and most enduring educators"

Our team work exceptionally hard to provide highly stimulating activities to promote and extend learning through play. We want to share some ideas for simple activities you can do at home (mirroring learning at nursery)! Take a look below at some resources that we have created (feel free to show us how you got on/show us activity ideas from home on Tapestry!)

Making Biscuits!

Here is a really simple activity where you can make biscuits with your little ones!

This is a great activity for children to learn about shape, space and measure. Talk to your children about quantities and weights; you can count with them too!

It is also brilliant at stimulating the muscles needed for early writing!

Making Rockets!

Let's make Rockets with Rosie!

Here, Rosie shows us how to make rockets with card and paper. We're more than happy to share some resources if you need them (we like to encourage 'gentle hands')

This is a great activity for developing 'fine motor' skill and incorporates simple maths too!

Fabulous Phonics!

In these activities, you can teach simple phonics to your child. These activities are better suited to children who are nearing school age: It is important to pitch these activities at the right level. of interest and development; have a chat to your child's key person.

It is really important that adults use the correct sounds when teaching phonics: saying "muh' for 'm' is incorrect, you must purse your lips to make an "mmmm" sound.

Here is a handy video that shows you how to make the correct sound:

Nests with Najma!

Here you can find Najma going over how to make chocolate nests.

We say provide a narrative to what you are doing with your children. This gives exposes them to new words like:

...heat, melt, mix, crush, soften, taste...

Painting Pebbles

Here is an activity where children's imaginations soar!

Let your child paint pebbles from a walk you've been on together; they will love to experiment mixing colour!

Handy hint: lay down cling film to avoid too much mess!

Yoga Letters!

Here is a small activity that we have created which you can do at home. We normally use this resource in circle times with our large touchscreen.

Your child can select the first letter in their name and try out the pose!

In order for this to work properly, we recommend using PowerPoint and a touch screen device. When downloaded, click on 'Play from start' in the 'Slideshow' tab.
