As you may be aware, we love to read in our nurseries! We are gradually introducing children to the Cornish language (Kernewek) through stories. Sue, Joe and Jan are currently taking lessons in Cornish (please forgive our pronunciations!) Take a look below at some of the stories that we read to children. If you are interested in purchasing these stories to use at home, visit: https://gocornish.org/ (there is also a load of fantastic resources for all ages!)

Creative Play: How to...

Make Biscuits with Katie:

In this short video, our fantastic Deputy Manager from St Erth Nursery (Katie) shows us how she makes scrummy biscuits at home! Give it a go and let us know how you get on with Tapestry!

Mathematics!

Treasure hunt with Stacey!

In this short video, our supersonic Senior from St Erth Nursery (Stacey) shows us how to do a simple treasure hunt activity at home. This closely links to the area of Mathematics; can you count the objects found? What happens when one is taken away? or added?

You can expand on this by challenging children to find specific quantities of objects and then (as explained by Stacey), you can draw their attention to the shape and size of the different objects:

"Which toy is the biggest?"
"Which is the smallest?"
"I wonder which things are round... tall... short"

Here is a small activity you can do at home. We nomrally use this resource in circle times with our large touchscreen. In order for this to work properly, we recommend using PowerPoint and a touch screen device (take a look at the video for a simple how to with Rosie & Shannon!)
